Google to launch all-new Pixel 3 successor next month

The search giant has released a teaser on its official store hinting at the launch of the long-rumored Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3s XL. The one-minute-long video highlights navigation through Google Maps and voice assistance using Google Assistant as some of the tasks that are possible through the Pixel 3 models to help the NY people. May 7 is also the first day of Google's upcoming I/O developer conference. "On May 7, something big is coming to the Pixel universe". In addition, the Avengers Endgame Playmoji pack can be installed via Play Store by heading to this link.

Earlier this week, prices of the Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL surfaced online.

There's no way to be sure any of this is true, however, and we'll just have to wait until 7th May to find out what Google has in store for us.

As smartphone prices continue to climb, with the likes of Samsung and Apple offering phones that cost over $1,000, competing with mid-tier smartphone vendors (and perhaps learning more about that market as a vendor), the move makes a lot of sense for Google.

Google got in bed with Verizon to launch the Pixel lineup in 2016, and Big Red has been Google's exclusive carrier partner ever since. Being affordable variants of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, the new smartphones are expected to offer the same camera performance as the flagship models. The event page features a video highlighting Google's collaboration with Avengers: End Game for dedicated Playmojis.

We have no idea why Google is linking the Avengers movie with the launch of both phones unless they mean to tell us the "a" in the names of the phones (Pixel 3a, and Pixel 3a XL) is short for Avengers.
