Summary of Mueller report expected to be delivered to Congress Sunday

If Bill Barr releases the report (or a summary of its conclusions) today, it'll be the only topic of discussion on Sunday morning.

White House spokesman Hogan Gidley says the White House has not received and has not been briefed on the Russian Federation report issued by special counsel Robert Mueller.

It remains unclear when and how much of the report will be shared with Congress and the public, according to The New York Times, which reported that the decision is up to the attorney general. Like most Americans, the people of Maryland's Sixth District want and deserve the fullest possible disclosure of the results of their investigation. Mueller was investigating Russian election interference and possible coordination with Donald Trump's campaign.

Mueller's court filings already showed a number of top Trump aides had contact with Russians during the campaign and after the election and that some of them lied about it. I have great confidence in our Committee Chairs and Members to honor our Congressional responsibility For the People.

Right now, we don't know how many additional investigations are taking place because they're done behind closed doors and in secret.

Democratic lawmakers are demanding the full contents of the report submitted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller to the Department of Justice on Friday be released to the public and progressive groups are vowing massive protests if the DOJ or the Trump administration do anything to hinder its disclosure.

Thanks to Mueller, who referred part of his investigation to the Southern District of NY prosecutors, we also know of a conspiracy to violate campaign finance laws in order to hide from voters hush money to cover up Trump's extramarital affairs.

Mueller was assigned to the job in May 2017 by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversaw much of his work. We have yet to find out whether, but for Justice Department policy against indicting a sitting president, Trump would have been charged with obstruction or other crimes.

CNN congressional correspondent Lauren Fox had a similar report. Barr and Mueller are said to be friends, and Mueller attended the weddings of Barr's children.

President Donald Trump isn't keeping a low profile while he waits for the release of Robert Mueller's report.

It was not known what Mueller's report says about another key point: whether Trump committed obstruction of justice to hinder the Russian Federation investigation by acts such as firing FBI Director James Comey in 2017.

However, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, a Democrat, told ABC's "This Week" that his panel has a particular obligation to determine whether Trump was "compromised in any way, whether that is criminal or not". They also point to precedent involving the Justice Department providing 880,000 pages of internal material previous year to the House as part of the GOP probe into the FBI's Hillary Clinton investigation - as well as the department providing records to the Hill over the Watergate probe. As of Friday evening, the White House had not received or been briefed on the report.

The single conclusion that can be drawn from the limited information available about the Mueller report, of course, is that no further indictments can be expected.

For now, the report is accessible to only a handful of Justice Department officials while Attorney General William Barr prepared to release the "principal findings" soon.
