NFL Announces Full 2019 Draft Order; Seahawks Hold Four Picks

The Panthers have been awarded a third-round compensatory pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Players who are released do not qualify.

According to the National Football League, five Vikings departures previous year counted as "compensatory free agents", including Case Keenum, Teddy Bridgewater, Jerick McKinnon, Shamar Stephen and Tramaine Brock, offset by two acquisitions factored into the formula in Kirk Cousins and Sheldon Richardson to equal three picks.

The Arizona Cardinals earned four compensatory 2019 NFL Draft picks based off their free agent losses from last offseason.

Washington earned the highest pick in the third round, plus one in the fifth, sixth and seventh rounds, respectively. The team has been awarded 50 extra selections since the system started in 1994, eight more than the next-closest teams.

Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. Tight end Nick Boyle and defensive end Brent Urban, both pending free agents, along with defensive tackle Willie Henry were also selected with compensatory picks. Their Round 5 selection went to Detroit in the offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson trade prior to the 2017 season, and the Round 7 choice was dealt to Cleveland for offensive lineman Shon Coleman late last preseason.

Two things made Green Bay likely to receive additional draft picks under Ted Thompson.
