Suspect Allegedly Told Police How He Chose Jayme Closs

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald says Patterson will appear via video from the Barron County Jail. "Jayme is the hero in this case". Patterson quit, saying he was moving from the area, according to the company.

Smart, who is married and now 31, said that although the details of Jayme's ordeal have not been released, the fact that the girl "rescued herself" speaks volumes of her strength.

Jayme Closs told police she didn't know Jake Thomas Patterson in the slightest.

"Jayme was the hero in the case". It's just one way to let Closs know how much she was missed and how grateful they are she is finally home. "We can't be more proud of Jayme".

She was released from the hospital Friday and reunited with relatives in Barron, Wisconsin, and with her dog, Molly.

Officials and loved ones have said they will give Jayme all the time she needs to share details of her story, which Smart agreed is the best course of action.

"It was a moment I'll never forget", Fitzgerald said. "That's the million-dollar question, is why". Her family insists they don't know the man.

Jayme approached a woman who was walking her dog for help.

"I believe it's a message to us here in Barron and people all over, you can't overestimate the power of prayer", Robinson said. "He crawled right up on her lap and snuggled up to her", Allard told GMA.

She said during an appearance on Good Morning America that Jayme should take her time to try and build a "new normal" with her relatives.

She took Closs to a nearby home where the residents, Kristin and Peter Kasinskas, called 991.

Patterson was arrested shortly after.

Authorities have recovered several guns, including a shotgun they think was used to blow open the front door of the Closs family home and used to kill James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, 46.

Patterson is accused of shooting and killing Jayme's parents before abducting the 13-year-old from her home on October 15.

Jake Thomas Patterson, the man suspected of abducting Jayme and killing her parents, James and Denise Closs, was expected to be charged later Monday with kidnapping and homicide.

The charging document quotes Mr Patterson as saying that when he saw Jayme, "He knew that was the girl he was going to take". It is about a one-hour, 50-minute drive from Minneapolis, and is about 50 minutes from Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

It's unclear how Patterson became aware of Jayme, and authorities have found no evidence of any interactions between them.

Richard Robinson, who is also a pastor at First Baptist, admits his hopes were starting to fade.

When deputies arrested him, he was out looking for Jayme, Fitzgerald said.

Jake Patterson had, as it turns out, worked at the same turkey processing plant, but only for a single day three years ago.

He may have worked at another business in Barron but that hasn't been confirmed, the sheriff said.

Investigators are trying to determine how Jayme escaped from Patterson's home, Fitzgerald said.

The two women hovered around Jayme as they waited for the police to arrive. We all miss them both dearly now they know there Jayme which was there whole world is home with family!

"She looked thin", Nutter said. Jayme Closs told the Federal Bureau of Investigation that she did not know Patterson at all.

It came as photographs emerged of the rural house in Wisconsin where she was held prisoner. She will not be able to go back to who she was before she was kidnapped.
