Jayme Closs, missing USA teen, found alive after 87-day search

And she was pretty dirty and her hair was matted.

The arrest comes after Jayme was found alive on Thursday after she escaped from a home where she was being held and approached a woman who was walking her dog.

She told Kasinskas that she was being kept in the Eau Claire Acres neighborhood - just a few houses down from the Kasinskas home.

Fitzgerald said the girl approached a woman who was walking her dog - and provided a description of a vehicle in the area, leading to Patterson's arrest. She declined food but otherwise appeared okay.

"I'm going to hug her. Squeeze her", Naiberg told the Star-Tribune.

A suspect was arrested and taken into custody 11 minutes later, police said.

Both the woman who found Jayme and the residents of the nearby home recognized her, Fitzgerald said.

"Oh my gosh", Allard told CNN affiliate WCCO between sobs.

"I have a gut feeling she's (Jayme's) still alive", Fitzgerald said at the time.

"I don't even really know how to describe it, just kind of like the surprise and panic at the same time", she shared. "I thought today was going to be the day, and then I find out two hours later that she's found and I just can not believe this".

Twin Cities TV station KSTP reports Closs was expected to be reunited with her family Thursday evening after being checked out at a Duluth, MN hospital. "From the bottom of my heart, thank you", he wrote in the press release.

Authorities said a suspect was in custody, but otherwise didn't give any additional details ahead of a planned Friday news conference in Barron, in northwestern Wisconsin.

The dogwalker accompanied Jayme to her neighbor's home, belonging to Kristin and Peter Kasinskas, where they dialed 911 for help. When police subsequently arrived at the family home, they found the parents dead but no sign of Jayme.

James and Denise Closs were shot dead in their home in Wisconsin last October. The log does not say who made the 911 call, but the dispatcher heard yelling in the background.

They were found shot to death in their home on October 15, the night their daughter disappeared, reported NBC News. The "tree of hope" was decorated with messages and lighted in blue, Jayme's favorite color, and green to symbolize missing child awareness, the Star Tribune reported.

Investigators received more than 3,500 tips during those three months, Fitzgerald said. The FBI offered a cash reward for information on her whereabouts, and authorities urged hunters in the area to be on the lookout for clues.

More than 2,000 volunteers showed up to help with two grid searches around Barron in October.

The Wisconsin man suspected of kidnapping a girl and killing her parents took steps to hide his identity as he held the teen captive for months, Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said Friday. Fitzgerald said he didn't know whether Patterson owned the home there or whether it was the only location where he had allegedly held the girl.

The department thanks the Douglas Co Sheriff's Department and agencies assisting them.
