Hollywood Celebs Throw Support Behind Elizabeth Warren Presidential Run

In a video released this morning, Senator Elizabeth Warren announced she is forming an exploratory committee ahead of her now-all-but-guaranteed run for president in 2020.

Mrs Warren, 69, released a video on Monday saying she was establishing a presidential campaign exploratory committee - typically the first step in a USA presidential candidate's bid.

"How did we get here?" she asked rhetorically. "Billionaire and big corporations decided they wanted more of the pie and they enlisted politicians to cut them a fatter slice", she continues in the announcement, but adds, "We can make our economy work for all of us". "Meanwhile, a September poll indicated that MA voters were more enthusiastic about Patrick making a White House bid than Warren". "That's one of the many causes of our current reality". This backdrop could prove to be a boon for Warren, who is widely expected to build a campaign centered around her signature economic populist message and anti-corruption platform.

In a video emailed to supporters, Warren recounted her own working class background and her work strengthening consumer financial protections.

Ms Warren has denounced Mr Trump as an "insecure money grubber" with a platform of "racism, sexism and xenophobia" while Mr Trump has described the former Harvard Law School professor as "goofy" and a "lowlife" with "a nasty mouth". In 2014 and 2015, DFA worked with Moveon.org to encourage Warren to run for president.

Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell seemed to scold Warren for breaking the rules and said to his colleagues, "She was warned".

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., speaks during the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in July 2016.

Senator Warren, a member of the Senate Banking Committee, has fought the Trump administration's efforts to weaken post-crisis financial rules.

"Elizabeth Warren, on a visceral level, is fighting for everyday people and against powerful interests", Progressive Change Campaign Committee co-founder Adam Green said, "and that comes through with an authenticity this moment demands".

Warren already has the building blocks of a campaign apparatus - a dedicated staff and a policy platform, outside advocates ready to go to bat for her, a grassroots fundraising operation that's the envy of her rivals, and a political organization that she used to help Democratic candidates around the country in the 2018 election.

The release of the DNA test was seized upon by Trump as proof that Warren's Native American ancestry was a fraud. President Barack Obama considered appointing her to run the new bureau but then passed on her. Warren ran for the Senate instead. The Cherokee Nation's secretary of state called it "inappropriate and wrong" and said it made "a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonouring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven". But Democrats saw in 2016 what can happen when 6 in 10 Americans dislike their nominee, and that's a distinct possibility with Warren in 2020.
