Santa Tracker Won’t Be Affected Government Shutdown, NORAD Says

He and his staff spent the night answering calls and telling hundreds of kids where Santa was flying over during the night - starting a tradition.

NORAD Tracks Santa wouldn't have started if not for a typo appearing on a newspaper ad back in 1955.

Despite the shutdown, more than 1,500 civilians and military personnel have enthusiastically volunteered to continue their tradition of tracking Santa's worldwide journey on Christmas Eve for the 63rd year in a row.

In a tweet on Saturday, the postal service said it also would not be impacted by the government shutdown.

NORAD Tracks Santa is a global experience that has reached generations of families everywhere.

Official NORAD Tracks Santa apps are also available in the Apple and Google Play stores, so parents and children can countdown the days and hours until Santa's launch on their smart phones and tablets!

Volunteers at Peterson Air Force Base answer an estimated 125,000 calls from children around the world to let them know where Santa is, and at what point he'll be arriving at their house.

That's tracking Santa Claus when he enters Canadian Airspace on Christmas Eve.

A girl told Ms Hill she wanted to warn Santa not to bump into a bell hanging on her door.

First, NORAD's North Warning System, with almost 50 installations across northern Canada and Alaska, closely monitor signs of when Santa leaves the North Pole in his flying-reindeer-powered sleigh.

Today, volunteers still take calls and handle thousands of calls and emails from around the world.

From the whole team at SEJ, a very Merry Christmas to all! The examination looks at how beliefs around Santa Claus differ over the world, yet there is a specific spotlight on understanding what sort of effect it has on kids when they take in this jolly gift-giving symbol does not exist.

The Santa tracker is so important that General O'Shaughnessy was asked about it during his NORAD chief confirmation hearing in April.

She said, "Like yourself I am committed to keeping people safe and well, whether in the air or on the road, and I urge everyone to do likewise".
