OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition India launch today, check out expected price, features

OnePlus has launched its 6T McLaren smartphone, which is available for $699 in the US. Already launched in the global market, the new OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will go on sale in the global market on December 13 onwards. The OnePlus 6T McLaren edition is available for £649 (about Rs 59,000).

The phone is supposed to be modeled after a McLaren MCL33, which isn't exactly the best McLaren F1 auto of the bunch, to put it mildly. Third, it comes with Warp Charge 30 that can recharge 50% of device battery in just 20 minutes.

Aside from the McLaren branding, Warp Speed 30 charging tech and that massive 10GB of RAM, the McLaren Edition is the same as OnePlus' regular 6T. Plus there's a McLaren logo, because of course there is. The phone maker's CEO Pete Lau said in a statement that this handset is the "start of an exciting partnership with McLaren, giving people a feeling of incredible speed and performance". We are now reviewing the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition after unboxing the smartphone on Tuesday, and so far the handset surely seems promising. Incidentally, the OnePlus 6T standard edition variant featuring 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage retails for GBP 579 (INR 52,500 approx.).

So you're paying around $70/£70 more for the McLaren Edition.

The 6T McLaren Edition will also see the launch of OnePlus's rebranded fast charging system, and as expected it's being called Warp Charge now.

There is an in-display fingerprint sensor that is claimed to unlock the screen in 0.34 seconds and works with the OnePlus screen protection. The most expensive standard 6T model clocks in at $629, so the McLaren Edition's markup doesn't feel too extreme - a relief after some of the other smartphones that have come out of team ups with auto companies. OnePlus has got us covered on that front with an orange-and-black USB-C charging cable, a carbon-patterned case, a coffee-table hardcover that documents McLaren's racing history highlights, as well as a McLaren badge-shaped piece of genuine carbon fiber encased in acrylic.

The limited edition handset is born out of the collaboration between OnePlus and McLaren. The McLaren Edition will be the most expensive phone ever released by OnePlus. On the back, there's carbon fiber inspired pattern under the glass, a McLaren logo, and a papaya orange lining on the bottom to represent the vehicle company's style.
