Trump threatens to revoke more reporters' press credentials

President Donald Trump obviously is not a fan of CNN Chief White House Correspondent Jim Acosta.

Trump, who that day had tried to declare a Republican victory despite the Democrats' takeover of the House of Representatives in the midterm elections, called Acosta a "rude, awful person" before attempting to move on. Acosta then insisted the caravan of Central American immigrants "is not an invasion" and pressed Trump on his use of that word.

"When you're in the White House - this is a very sacred place to me, this is very special place - you have to treat the White House with respect; you have to treat the presidency with respect", Trump noted. Now, a video expert has claimed that the video the White House tweeted in defense of the decision has been doctored to make Acosta look more aggressive.

During his two-hour press conference focused mostly on the general election, Trump called Ryan "nasty" and a "loser," insinuated that Alcindor was "racist" for asking a question about nationalism and said Phillip "asks a lot of stupid questions".

But revoking the credentials a journalist needs to do his or her job of holding the government to account is dangerously close to a violation of the U.S. Constitution, said journalism scholar Frank LoMonte. "But I watch you a lot, you ask a lot of stupid questions", Trump sneered. "Our democracy depends on the functioning of an unfettered press that is allowed to question our leaders and hold them accountable without fear of reprisal".

"When I stood up, in his response, he tells me to 'sit down, ' in a condescending, very ugly matter", Ryan said.

Richard Tofel, the president of ProPublica, tweeted on Friday morning, "What is the plan for when Trump concocts an excuse for vetoing a reporter" from the New York Times or Washington Post? "But they certainly want to make it about me, myself and I", she said when commenting on reporters like Acosta.

KDKA's Jon Delano has covered a number of politicians over the decades, and has never experienced a politician banning reporters because they don't like the questions that get asked.

With such a toxic relationship, it is awesome that the President and Sarah Huckabee Sanders even participate in press conferences and allow themselves to be abused by the liberal and hostile media.

It happens just like in the White House's version, but Acosta's hand doesn't seem to linger as long on the woman's arm and the movement appears significantly faster.

Trump also cast doubt on the stated rationale for stripping Acosta's credential. He refused to respond to her question.

The video posted by Sanders only focuses on the moment when the woman tries to take the microphone from Acosta.

Ryan isn't the only black female journalist Trump has derided this week.

The journalists who were the target of Trump's ire defended each other on Friday. "They made it close up, they showed it close up".

Nevertheless, as a result of his actions, Jim's credentials and permission to attend White House conferences has officially been revoked - for now.
