Red Dead Redemption 2 Is The Third Biggest Entertainment Launch In History

While not eclipsing the same three-day sales record as GTA V (which launched on a Tuesday), RDR 2 has become the biggest opening weekend ever in all of entertainment.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is very popular with the Twitch crowd.

Grand Theft Auto V earned more than $1 billion in its first three days, but because it was released on a Tuesday it can not hold the weekend figure.

Red Dead Redemption 2 also beat its biggest rival, Activision Blizzard's Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

That is far from all of the records that Red Dead Redemption 2 broke during its launch weekend.

Biggest day one full game sales ever on PlayStation Network.

Previously Rockstar Games has released Grand Theft Auto V, which managed over US$1 billion (NZ$1.527 billion) in three days' worth of sales.

The three-day start makes "Red Dead Redemption 2" the single-biggest opening weekend in "the history of entertainment", Rockstar said in a press release detailing the game's achievements. Red Dead Online is planned for launch in November 2018, initially as a public beta, with more news to come soon. Reddit user joebucksucks420 has revealed that a friend of his who works for Rockstar Games has shared some interesting tidbits regarding the launch window for the upcoming "Grand Theft Auto" sequel. The cowboy epic was one of this year's most anticipated video games. We're seeing more people buying and playing games because of this increase in variety and scale of the games being released, which allows a larger addressable market for the other games being released.

Red Dead Redemption 2 players will want to grab the legendary bear pelt in order to craft an awesome outfit for Arthur Morgan.
