Chelsea back Sarri over assistant controversy

Nobody likes conceding an injury-time equaliser, but that's especially true for Jose Mourinho, who took his Manchester United side to Stamford Bridge, where he has previously won three league titles.

Chelsea grabbed a draw late on at Stamford Bridge on Sunday which led to huge celebrations on the Chelsea bench, as assistant coach Marco Ianni taunted United manager Jose Mourinho on his way down the tunnel.

Yet, even immediately following the game, Mourinho accepted apologies from both Ianni and Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.

Play was eventually able to resume after a further fracas in the centre circle of the pitch.

Ianni goaded Mourinho after Ross Barkley's stoppage time equaliser - something Sarri was forced to apologise for after the game.

Chelsea assistant coach Marco Ianni could face the wrath of the FA as he has been charged for misconduct.

The FA will, however, not issue any form of punishment to Mourinho for retaliating, although a statement said he had been "reminded of his responsibilities".

Television cameras captured Mourinho muttering what are purported to have been "abusive and/or insulting and/or improper" remarks.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is to investigate suspicions that there is a mole in the Old Trafford dressing room.

The former Napoli coach appeared to charge in front of the Man United bench pumping his fist - much to Mourinho's anger. I think it is finished.

Asked whether this was the best few weeks of his career, the £15 million buy from Everton added: "Yes, I'd probably say so".

Martial had been largely anonymous before the break, but, in contrast to Morata, took his chances when they came in the second period.

"I went into it too quick and over the years I felt I wanted to get them removed, so I went through the process in the last couple of years". I don't always stick up for him [Mourinho], or feel he conducts himself in the right way, but I get it. We made a mistake.

"I don't think he deserves to be sacked, I don't think he deserves anything more than the fact that his club was strong with him and he went through a situation that in the end he recognises that he was wrong".
