Social media footage captured the first floor collapsing onto the lower level just after midnight local time.
"They weren't hurt at all but other people were crying, bleeding, it was just a shocking moment for everyone".
People could be heard screaming as they tried to claw their way out of the pool of injured bodies.
It happened during a private party in the clubhouse at The Woodlands of Clemson around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, according to WSPA. "It was a lot to take in".
Part of the clubhouse floor collapsed into the building's basement as attendees were dancing in unison, Woodlands Property Management President Tal Slann told CNN. No one was trapped but about 30 people were taken to three area hospitals. He warned his friends and suggested a retreat to the balcony but the floor collapsed before they could make it.
Clemson police are conducting an investigation into the collapse.
"We're continuing to gather information, and are encouraged by the initial reports of no life-threatening injuries", Clemson University said in a statement to ABC.
