But hey, the good news is that Scott's ant friend survived Thanos!
"Ant-Man and The Wasp", Ant-Man's sophomore stand alone outing, spends the most time dealing with the Quantum Realm, thanks to the fact that Scott visited the place at the end of the first movie and lived to tell the tale - something the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) thought impossible.
During Avengers: Infinity War, when someone wonders where Hawkeye (Clint Barton) and Ant-Man (Scott Lang), it was explained that, following the fight between Cap's rogue group of Avengers and Iron Man's Sokovia Accords-certified Avengers, Ant-Man and Hawkeye took plea deals due to their respective families. As is the Marvel way, it does indeed, with a total of two after-credits scenes to check out after the movie "ends" (I guess we should lean into calling them stingers this time around, right?).
Before Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp, I questioned whether the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) could afford to go small after re-defining big with Avengers: Infinity War. It may even be out of Thanos' reach, or at least his awareness. We're taken to the Lang house-eerily deserted, with the TV cut to an emergency broadcasting channel. Scott is stuck in the Quantum Realm. Upstairs, the giant ant "stand in" Hope programmed to mimic Scott's routine keeps on keeping on, oblivious to the apocalypse, playing Scott's drum set. In the comics, the alternate dimension known as the Microverse is a full-fledged universe - really, a series of universes - complete with its own superheroes and supervillains. At one point, Scott hears silence from his allies, leaving him trapped in the Quantum Realm.
The second post-credits scene, featuring a giant ant playing the drums, manages to be both amusing and chilling, before the movie ends with a reassuring statement - "Ant-Man and The Wasp will return" - that quickly turns ominous when a question mark appears at the end, rendering that observation a little less certain.
