Teenage singing star impresses judges on America's Got Talent

Courtney is 13 and goes to school in Peterlee, Country Durham.

The difference in 13-year-old Courtney Haldwin when she is singing from her everyday self has to be seen to be believed.

The British teen, who initially admitted that she was "a little bit nervous", wowed the panel of celebrity judges with her performance of Otis Redding's Hard to Handle.

'Bloody hell Courtney, ' Simon Cowell said after her performance. "And then you sing and you're like a lion", Cowell told her. I'm Howie Mandel, and I can't sign you to a record deal.

And Howie hits the Golden Buzzer putting Courtney straight through to the Live Shows.

Courtney competed in The Voice Kids UK a year ago but missed out on the top prize.

A former McKinley High student has graduated from glee club to America's Got Talent. She was a finalist on "The Voice Kids U.K.", Billboard pointed out.

Courtney made it to the final of the show after being put forward by judge Danny Jones, but narrowly missed out on the title, which was won by Jess Folley, one of rival judge Pixie Lott's choices.

This wasn't Courtney's first time performing on television.

Since then, the young talent has continued to make a name for herself in the region, appearing on stage at the of Waterfront Festival held at Jackson's Wharf previous year.

For the rest of the song the audience are on their feet, as she belts out the 1968 song - and the performance finishes with a standing ovation from everyone in the auditorium.
