Trump seethes over Russian Federation probe, calls for end to 'SPYGATE'

"If they had spies in my campaign...for political purposes, that would be unprecedented", Trump said Tuesday during a meeting in the Oval Office with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, calling it a "disgrace".

"No, James Clapper, I am not happy", Trump tweeted. "He doesn't want to hear these questions, if you don't mind".

That meeting is slated for Thursday, and will be with House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, Wray, and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats.

Not forgetting to plug his champions at Fox & Friends, Trump this morning also plugged its segment on Tomi Lahren, who, over the weekend, had a drink tossed at her while at brunch. And the White House said that Trump chief of staff John Kelly would organize the meeting with House lawmakers to review the documents, although he and other White House staffers would not be present.

In the Oval Office on Tuesday, Trump said the meeting was "routine" and reiterated that Kelly was setting up a meeting with stakeholders. That group regularly receives classified briefings.

The Justice Department agreed by expanding an open, internal investigation to determine whether there was any politically motivated surveillance.

"If anyone did infiltrate or surveil participants in a presidential campaign for inappropriate purposes, we need to know about it and take appropriate action", Rosenstein said in a statement announcing the move.

The department said then that the White House had signed off on its letter, but Nunes wasn't satisfied, and continued to pressure DOJ officials.

The New York Times and The Washington Post have reported a confidential source spoke to Page and Trump campaign co-chairman Sam Clovis, as well as campaign adviser George Papadopoulos.

The Justice Department's internal probe began in March at the request of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and congressional Republicans.

Without substantiation, Trump tweeted in March 2017 that former President Barack Obama had conducted surveillance the previous October at Trump Tower, the NY skyscraper where Trump ran his campaign and transition and maintains a residence.

Trump went on to rip James Clapper, former Director of National Intelligence, for saying on "The View" that Trump should be "happy" that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents were "trying to understand were the Russians infiltrating, trying to gain access, trying to gain leverage or influence which is what they do", by covertly contacting his campaign. Trump fired Comey over the FBI's Russian Federation investigation.
