Starbucks CEO hopes to meet with arrested men

According to the New York Daily News, a Starbucks spokesperson reported that the manager "no longer works at that store".

A protester holds up a sign outside a Philadelphia Starbucks where two black men were asked to leave.

The men were released from custody at the police station after it became clear Starbucks did not want to press charges. "They were waiting for a friend to show up, who did as they were taken out in handcuffs for doing nothing".

"If there's one thing that America has shown us, there's only two ways that you can get their attention- the loss of life and the loss of finances", T.I. continued.

He also said that Starbucks "stands firmly against discrimination or racial profiling". "It was completely inappropriate to engage the police", Johnson said, adding that there will be more training in the future for store managers around "unconscious bias". Later that day, while the hashtag #BoycottStarbucks was trending on Twitter, Kevin R Johnson, chief executive of Starbucks, released a statement in which he called the situation a "reprehensible outcome".

Much like the Starbucks in Philadelphia, the Starbucks in downtown Erie has a key to the restrooms just for its customers, to try to keep it from becoming a public restroom.

Mayor Jim Kenney said the coffee giant's apology was not enough and that the city Commission on Human Relations will examine the firm's policies and bias training provided its employees. Ward approaches the man and asks him how he was able to use the restroom, and the man said he asked for the bathroom code and a Starbucks employee gave it to him.

"These officers had legal standing to make this arrest", Commissioner Ross said.

"We're welcoming people to share their point of view in the store", said Riley.

Philadelphia's police commissioner on Saturday defended the arrest, saying his officers had to act after Starbucks employees told them the pair were trespassing. He hopes to have a face-to-face meeting with the men so he can apologize in person, the CEO said. On tape, he asked the white man if he had purchased anything before being given the code, and the white man said no.

Johnson's comments came as about two dozen protesters took over the Starbucks location where the arrests happened.
