New iPhone SE Coming in May With A10 Fusion, No Headphone Jack

Japanese blog Macotakara, which has a fairly decent track record when it comes to Apple rumors, claims the iPhone SE will be missing a 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead, if Apple is indeed dealing with lower-than-expected demand, it would likely cut production or stop production altogether and sell whatever is left until it releases new iPhones later this year. Janus Henderson Group PLC now owns 20,003,587 shares of the iPhone maker's stock worth $2,880,992,000 after purchasing an additional 15,018,790 shares during the period.

More notably, however, is the case maker's claim that the iPhone SE 2 won't include a headphone jack despite having the same dimensions.

Some reports suggested Apple could kill the iPhone SE this year, but it makes sense for Apple to keep it around. The EEC usually adds new products to its database roughly a month before their official announcement, so the latest evidence certainly suggests a WWDC 2018 unveiling could be likely.

Ming-Chi Kuo, KGI Securities analyst, had recently said that he had doubts that the iPhone SE 2 will be launched in the second quarter of this year.

Speaking to the representatives from the website Mac Otakara at the Global Sources Mobile Electronics trade show in Hong Kong, case makers revealed that the next generation of iPhone SE, or the iPhone SE 2 will be launched in May.

Beyond the June quarter, iPhone sales may eventually see a huge upswing once Apple releases its 2018 lineup.

They were registered a little too soon for the flagship fall line-up, so many are speculating they represent the follow up to 2016's popular and affordable iPhone SE. This means the iPhone SE 2 will have a 4-inch screen. The physical design of the smartphone will be very similar in size and functionality to the first model, including that it will feature Touch ID, rather than the iPhone X's Face ID tech.

iPhone X carries model numbers A1865, A1901, and A1902, depending on the iPhone's carrier or which country it is being sold in.

The upcoming iPhone SE might have a glass back with support for wireless charging.
