Protests against Philadelphia-area Starbucks continue as new disturbing video surfaces

The first incident in Philadelphia happened last Thursday when two black men were arrested after store employees called 911 to say they were trespassing. But in this case, Johnson said, there was absolutely no reason to call police.

He said he believes if the two men "didn't have sweatsuits on, they wouldn't have been targeted".

"There are very few African-American men in this country who haven't had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store", he said after the 2012 shooting of Trayvon Martin. Stewart Cohen, the lawyer for the two men, said he hopes "something productive for the community" can come out of such a meeting. "But the Black men [in Starbucks] need to be congratulated and saluted". The video was shared on Twitter by an activist on Monday.

News of the arrests ignited protests outside the store on Saturday, and spurred a weekend apology from Johnson, who had been said to be headed to Philadelphia in an effort to deliver a personal apology to the men. He added that the apology from Starbucks "is not enough" and that he would ask the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations to examine the firm's policies and procedures and whether there should be bias training for its employees. Most people will move just simply because we tell them the proprietor wants you to leave.

"I can tell you candidly these officers did a service they were called to do", he said.

A Starbucks representative told the NY Daily News the unidentified manager "no longer works at that store", and "there is an internal review pending". But the Starbucks manager at the Philadelphia coffee shop said that per their store policy they could not, since they didn't buy anything, and asked them to leave.

Picking Killer Mike's brain on the Starbucks incident and how it relates to his stance on gun laws, Reid asked, "Do you worry that encouraging Black people to carry endangers Black people's lives?" The customers said they were waiting for another man to arrive. And the Philadelphia police commissioner, who is under fire for defending his officers, said the policemen never wanted to arrest them. "In fact, they were really trying not to make an arrest in this case", Ross said. Yaffe says. "Does anybody else think this is ridiculous?" "I saw the entire thing".

"Starbucks was built as a company that creates a warm, welcoming environment for all customers". Most soccer moms I know would likely leave private property when asked by police even once. "And that is what we're focused on".

Kevin Hart is changing his tune about Starbucks amid Russell Simmons calling on him to boycott the chain.

"Starbucks calls the police for every little incident that occurs in their stores", Malachi said. Please make this situation right. During the same quarter past year, the company posted $0.52 earnings per share.

Johnson also promised all Starbucks employees will have "unconscious bias" training.

Aside from chanting, protesters also called on present staff to release the name of the store manager who made the call to the Philadelphia Police Department about the two customers, who were waiting for a friend before placing their order. "What did they get called for?"

As news of the disgraceful incident continued to spread, Johnson appeared on Good Morning America on Monday morning to reiterate the sentiments expressed in his official statement on the situation, in which he offered his "deepest apologies" to the two men on behalf of the company.
