Blue Ivy Bid $19K on a Painting of Sidney Poitier

Baby Blue Ivy made an appearance with her parents on Saturday night at the 2018 WACO Wearable Art gala, a fundraiser to support Where Art Can Occur (WACO) Theater Center. It honored Beyoncé and her mother-in-law, Gloria Carter, for their humanitarian work.

Jay-Z jokingly tried to curb the six-year-old's spending spree by wrestling the auction paddle from her, but he isn't fooling anyone. In the clip, which you can see below, Blue is seen raising a paddle to bid on an acrylic painting of actor Sidney Poitier for $22,000.

"Let me tell you what's happening", said host Star Jones, who acted as the auctioneer.

Blue bid an incredible $19,000 but couldn't beat Sidney's $20,000, before going on to bid $10,000 on another item. Jay-Z comically pretends to try to wrestle it out of her hand.

Director Tyler Perry ended up with the artwork after a United States $20,000 bid, but young Blue soon launched a successful USA $10,000 bid on a piece by mixed-media artist Samuel Levi Jones. She added, "Listen, you know Ms. Tina told me all of this". Her mother Beyonce also joined the auction and won a bid on Lorraine Schwartz panther earrings at $17,000. "I think the real reason I feel weird to receive this award from my mother is because I feel like I should be giving her an award tonight".

Blue Ivy penned a handwritten note to congratulate her mother.

Paying tribute to his "ma", the 48-year-old rapper said: "She raised four kids and she did the best job with me". Beyonce also received a heartwarming pre-recorded video message from Michelle Obama who saluted her for being an inspiration to young women.
