Trump Threat: 'I Am Thinking About' Pulling ICE out of California

President Donald Trump said on Thursday he's considering pulling federal immigration enforcement agents out of California, which declared itself a so-called sanctuary state and limits local police cooperation with us authorities enforcing the president's immigration policies.

"Frankly, if I wanted to pull our people from California you would have a crime nest like you've never seen in California", he said at the White House during a meeting with state and local officials on school safety and gun violence. "The sanctuary city situation, the protection of these disgusting criminals. if we ever pulled our ICE out and said, 'Hey, let California alone and let them figure it out themselves, ' in two months they'd be begging for us to come back".

On Jan. 1 this year, California's Senate Bill 4 came into effect, which made the whole state a sanctuary for illegal aliens-including convicted criminal-and shields them from immigration enforcement. State and local law enforcement officials can't use their resources to aid in federal immigration enforcement.

"Frankly it's a disgrace, the sanctuary city situation", he said, warning that without ICE and the Border Patrol, California "would see crime like no one's ever seen". They would be begging. In his state of the state address late last month, Brown issued a strong rebuke to Trump's previous threats over how California deals with immigration.

The National ICE Council, the union representing detention officers and an early supporter of Trump's presidential bid, didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

"You know what, I'm thinking about it", Trump said. Please ensure we are provided with a full accounting of how ICE raids are being prioritized and conducted, including all relevant documents, memorandums, and email exchanges regarding these raids in California.

These people are "cowards", Trump said, suggesting they would stay away from schools if they knew teachers were carrying concealed weapons. My division of law enforcement is doing that right now.
