Minnie Mouse getting star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Minnie Mouse got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Monday, marking a milestone for The Walt Disney Company as she joins Mickey Mouse in receiving the honor 40 years after he did. "I am so grateful", a sequin-polka dot-clad Minnie said to the throng of fans in attendances.

Minnie Mouse made her movie debut in the 1928 film Steamboat Willie, and her co-star and beau Mickey Mouse got his bronze plaque on Hollywood Boulevard back in 1978.

"In true Hollywood fashion, she delivered a truly memorable performance but Mickey got all the credit", Iger said during Monday's ceremony.

Pop star Katy Perry introduced the mouse she calls a "dear friend". "And Mickey, I'm so happy you're here to share this wonderful day to me", she said, blowing him a kiss.

"No one rocks a bow, or the color red, quite like her", Perry added. "Trust me, I'm trying". "This really is the best day ever".

She will be honored for over 90 years in the motion picture business. "And for all of her many accomplishments as an entertainer and a fashionista, I think what we love the most about Minnie Mouse is her ability to just make us smile", Iger said.

Since then, 15 others have been enshrined, including Disney cohorts Donald Duck, Kermit the Frog, Snow White, Tinker Bell, Winnie the Pooh and, as a group, the Muppets.
