Three-member Taliban delegation visits Pakistan

"According to the Asia Foundation's survey, only 5 per cent population of Afghanistan supports Taliban".

"They feel confident that the Taliban will be coming to the table", Ms Haley told reporters.

Wells said: "It is inaccurate to say that the Taliban have occupied 43 per cent of Afghanistan's territory; they have occupied only 12 per cent territory of Afghanistan". They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help.

The relations were further hit after Pakistan said it will not share intelligence inputs with United States security agencies.

"All parties underlined the importance of an inclusive Afghan-led and -owned peace process for long-term stability and prosperity in Afghanistan, and Council members renewed their commitment to support efforts that aim at bringing peace and reconciliation", the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said in its statement.

"As long as they are supporting terrorism in Pakistan, the Afghan community is continuing to feel it is not safe", she said.

United Nations, Jan 17 The UN Security Council should step up pressure on Pakistan to "change its behaviour", US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley today said.

The Taliban supreme leader Mullah Hebatullah has reportedly approved the visit of a Taliban delegation to Islamabad for preliminary talks on exploring ways to revive peace talks.

"We have to stand up to those who accuse us of harbouring terrorists", he said.

Russian Federation called on Wednesday for urgent talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban, its Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

Reuters reported that the Taliban's Haqqani network last week released 14 captured Afghan Army soldiers in the eastern province of Paktia as a goodwill gesture ahead of the talks.

Both sides officially denied holding any talks.
