Trump seeks probe into email practices of Hillary Clinton's aide

Again allowing his frustration with the country's top law enforcement entity to show, Trump referred to it as the "Deep State Justice Dept", which he wrote "must finally act" against Abedin and "Comey & others".

With the connivance of the Obama administration, Abedin and Clinton also purloined call logs, scheduling documents, and files described as "Muslim Engagement" from the Department of State when they left their jobs there.

The emails, also obtained by Judicial Watch, appear to show Abedin serving as a gatekeeper auctioning access to the presidential candidate in exchange for donations to the Clinton Foundation.

Trump's new attack was just his latest assault against the former Democratic nominee and her staff in a sequence that has continued long after the end of the 2016 election campaign.

In one tweet, Trump targeted Clinton confidante Huma Abedin, Comey and the Justice Department, which has frustrated the chief executive with its investigation of possible ties between the Kremlin and his 2016 presidential campaign.

Comey's previous probes into the email usage determined Clinton and her team didn't break the law.

. Saucier, though, tried to destroy evidence - which is critical evidence of bad intent that investigators found lacking in the Clinton case.

As for Comey, Trump has butted heads with the former director since firing him last May. During the investigation, the FBI recovered some work emails which had not been turned over to the State Department by Clinton.

Republicans charge that an anti-Trump bias exists in the bureau's ranks, citing the campaign donations to McCabe's wife and, more recently, the release of hundreds of text messages between FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page.

While leaders at the Justice Department answer to Trump, that institution traditionally has enjoyed a measure of independence from the president - especially when it comes to particular criminal investigations.

Clinton aides are not happy with the news, as Nick Merrill, Clinton's former communications director, told the Beast: "As Trump begins the new year with Steve Bannon calling his campaign treasonous and indictments and guilty pleas piling up, he resorts to diversion and distraction like clockwork, with the help of his Attorney General".

The State Department has carefully reviewed the emails and has released reports on the said documents after having redacted sensitive information. Trump maintains there was no collusion between his campaign and the Russian government, and has blasted the investigation as a "witch hunt".

Late a year ago, Sessions directed senior federal prosecutors to explore at least some of the matters and report back to him and his top deputy. The witness's name was redacted from documents released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation but he was identified as an employee of a computer firm that helped maintained Clinton's email server.
