Chelsea close to completing £15m signing!

Barkley rejected the offer of a lucrative contract from his boyhood club previous year and made it clear to the Goodison Park hierarchy that he was looking for pastures new, with many pinning his desire for wanting to leave down to his fractured relationship with former manager Ronald Koeman, who was relieved of his duties in October.

Ross Barkley will undergo a medical at Chelsea today as the club closes in on a deal worth around £15 million for the midfielder.

Barkley, 24, is yet to play a game this season because of a troublesome hamstring injury but that hasn't stopped Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Barkley was hot property during the summer transfer window after refusing to sign a new contract at Goodison Park with Chelsea and Tottenham just two of the clubs to show a keen interest.

Premier League champions Chelsea could wrap up the signing of Everton midfielder Ross Barkley by the end of Friday, according to a report.

Barkley's exit will bring an end to his association with Everton, the club he joined as an 11-year-old and represented more than 150 times.

Tottenham Hotspur have also harboured a long-standing interest in Barkley, but sources have told ESPN FC that they are not prepared to rival Chelsea for his signature in January as they pursue other targets favoured by Mauricio Pochettino.

He will be eligible to play for Chelsea in both the Champions League and Premier League.
