Conte Pleased Witn Chelsea Win Over Stoke, Focuses On Arsenal Clash

Chelsea's in fine form and looking primed to challenge for second place in the Premier League, and that has Antonio Conte in a fairly relaxed mindset regarding his roster.

While his side are lagging well behind leaders Manchester City in this season's title race, the Italian is still delighted with the way the last 12 months played out in west London. "For a first experience in the league, to win the title is not easy, so I have to thank the club for giving me this opportunity".

"And for next year, we are still in four competitions".

Conte has spent much of the season grumbling about his squad's lack of depth after Chelsea failed to land his top targets in the summer.

But Conte, who himself rested Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Tiemoue Bakayoko, insists rotation is inevitable during the draining Christmas schedule.

The Blues dominated from the start in spite of resting Belgian star Hazard ahead of next week's clash at Arsenal.

It was however not the same happy ending for other Nigerian players whose club were also in action in Saturday's Premier League games.

Hughes left key players Xherdan Shaqiri and Joe Allen out of the defeat at Stamford Bridge, admitting that he had one eye on Stoke's match at home to Newcastle on Monday.

Antonio Rudiger opened the scoring after three minutes of play, Danny Drinkwater scored his first Chelsea goal with a screamer in the 9th minute while Pedro increased the home side's tally to three in the 23rd minute. "I have to give the players a bit of rest".
