Apple TV Adds Amazon Prime Video After Years of Haggling

Meanwhile in Apple land, the addition of Prime Video should help bolster the Apple TV's content library until the company's billion dollar push into original programming bears fruit. All you have to do is install the app.

Sign in with your Amazon account and begin exploring Amazon's.

But just yesterday, a strong indication that Prime Video for Apple TV is finally coming emerged in Apple's App Store.

Amazon and Google compete in voice-activated smart speakers, streaming video devices and online video services. All you have to do is head over to the App Store on any Apple TV and then log in with your Amazon credentials. Unlike the Amazon Fire TV, which will lose YouTube on January 1, the Apple TV has all the major video streaming apps, including YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, and now Prime Video.

Beyond that, the app will be immediately familiar if you've used it on any other streaming or mobile device recently.

"There is nothing that excites us more than delighting our customers, and we are thrilled for them to stream Prime Video on Apple TV", said Mark Eamer, vice president of Prime Video.

There were lots of news breaks over the past few years suggesting this day was going to be arriving soon, but a pretty consistent back and forth between two of the world's largest and most successful companies got really complicated.

Google says Amazon is refusing to work with it on an official YouTube app for the platform and claims the current one provides users with a "broken experience".

In a statement Tuesday, Google said: 'Given this lack of reciprocity, we are no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and Fire TV'. An Amazon rep responded that "Google is setting a disappointing precedent by selectively blocking customer access to an open website".
