Selena Gomez pays emotional tribute to kidney donor Francia Raisa

The singing sensation had shocked her fanbase back in September when she revealed that, due to complications in her ongoing battle with lupus, she had received an emergency kidney transplant, with Raisa selflessly stepping up for her best friend.

After such a huge year, it's no surprise that Selena was awarded Billboard's Woman Of The Year, because, well, she's an awesome human being...

The singer is Billboard's "Woman of the Year", but she feels that this accolade should go to her kidney donor Francia Raisa.

"I think Francia should be getting this award", Gomez said with tears in her eyes.

Selena Gomez stunned everyone at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles as she attended the 2017 Billboard Women in Music Dinner and Awards Gala. "I think for me what's been great is that I've been able to live the life that I've wanted for myself".

Earlier in the evening, Selena was asked on the red carpet how Justin Bieber has influenced the person she is today.

"I'm so proud and happy to be a part of the industry while it is changing in this way and I couldn't be more honoured to be a part of that". Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery. "Going through that makes me look at life a little bit differently, and I am grateful for that".

"I love Kevin [Systrom], the creator of Instagram, and he has gotten mad at me in the past when I was like, 'I have to take a break from it, '" Selena shared.
