'Lady Bird' Just Became Rotten Tomatoes' Best-Reviewed Film Ever

The previous title-holder was Toy Story 2, which has a fresh streak of 163 reviews. In other words, it is still possible that a rogue reviewer could tarnish Lady Bird's ideal score, though the huge number of positive reviews the film has already compiled would still easily make it one of 2017's best-reviewed movies.

According to critics, Lady Bird is a flawless movie.

They weren't joking when they said "and counting", because it has since increased to 170, leaving a comfortable distance between Lady Bird and Toy Story 2.

Greta Gerwig has responded to Lady Bird becoming the best reviewed film in Rotten Tomatoes history.

There's an elite club of movies on Rotten Tomatoes that have earned a rating of 100 percent on the Tomatometer, indicating universal acclaim from critics.

Since its November 3 release, Lady Bird has made more than $10 million, despite having played in only 800 or so theaters nationwide. The movie now boasts a rare 100% score with 173 reviews and counting on an average rating of 8.9/10. For instance, only seven films on Rotten Tomatoes' Top 100 Movies of 2017 list have earned the ideal rating at all. That there has been such a warm reception is a dream come true. The film has been making steady inroads into the awards season, bagging trophies at the Gotham Awards and finding a spot on the National Board of Review's top ten films of 2017 list.

She added, "We are all on cloud nine and using our tomato emoji more than we ever thought possible".

Released by indie film studios A24 (Moonlight) earlier this month, Lady Bird only went from a limited release to wider distribution this past weekend, and the film has so far pulled in $10.7 million in domestic theaters, according to Box Office Mojo. "Without lettings its strings show or veering into bald-faced sentimentality, Lady Bird breaks the heart and lifts the spirit in miraculous ways".
