1 boy killed, 5 others injured in shooting on Cleveland's east side

Cleveland police were searching Saturday for suspects in a Friday shooting, which left a 12-year-old boy dead and five other kids injured, NBC News reported. One of them remained hospitalized with head wounds, police said.

Five additional teen boys between the ages of 14 and 16 were also shot while they were standing in front of a liquor store next door.

The 12-year-old boy and his father went outside to see what was happening, Ciaccia said.

Officials in Florida had been looking for the boy and his 53-year-old grandmother since Wednesday, when they failed to pick up the teen's father at the airport. Another 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy were shot in the leg.

Police officers responded to the scene at approximately 7:30 p.m. ET.

Six boys were shot on Cleveland's east side Friday evening and police say the suspects are still on the loose.

"We don't know exactly what spurred this or what happened, but, you know, definitely our hearts go out to the families of the victims here", Police Chief Calvin Williams told reporters. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear at this time.
