Aguero collapses at halftime as Argentina lose to Nigeria

In what analysts said may be a dress rehearsal for Nigeria's performance in next year's Russia World Cup, the Super Eagles stunned football superpowers Argentina 4-2 in an global friendly played in Russia.

The Argentine Football Association wrote on Twitter that Aguero "presented symptoms of fainting and for that reason he was taken to have routine studies done as a precautionary measure".

Argentina only secured its spot in the next World Cup in the last round of South American qualifiers and has not delivered convincing performances without Messi.

Ever Banega and Sergio Aguero put La Albiceleste ahead with their strikes in the 27th and 36th minute before Kelechi Iheancho pulled one back for Gernot Rohr's men at the death of the first half.

The Eagles fought back from two goals down to win 4-2 as both countries began preparation for Russian Federation 2018 in earnest.

The Super Eagles took the lead two minutes after that when Brian Idowu sidefooted home from the edge of the area to finish off a counter attack.

Ihenacho scored a superb free-kick on 44 minutes of the first half to reduce the tally to 2-1.

"His suggestion will be tabled at the CAF Executive Committee meeting very soon and we hope they approve it so that we can play a friendly match in March".
