Podesta brothers fight back against Trump, Mueller and Fox News

She and a senior group will be launching a new firm in the next one or two days. The Podesta Group appeared in the special counsel's investigation into Manafort's finances.

On Monday, the world watched as Manafort and Gates turned themselves in to the team led by former FBI Director Robert Mueller and that Papadopolous had pleaded guilty to lying to FBI investigators, but it also learned that Podesta, a Democrat, stepped down from his lobbying firm the Podesta Group after being drawn into the investigation by the counsel as well.

Podesta's brother Tony Podesta walked away from the Podesta Group as the lobbying group comes under scrutiny for its connections to former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort's shady Russian business deals. What he know (s) about Crooked Dems is earth shattering. According to Politico, the firm recently lost some clients, and brought in $4.8 million in the third quarter of 2017, down from $6.1 million in the third quarter of 2016.

The inquiry is reportedly into Podesta's work for the European Centre for a Modern Ukraine, which was not disclosed until after payments from the group to Podesta's firm were discovered by the press.

John Podesta's emails were among those leaked by Russian hackers following their entry into the servers of the Democratic National Committee in October 2016.

Why did he step down from the Podesta Group? In the past three decades it's become one of the most profitable lobbying shops in D.C. While John spent most of his career in government, Tony gained influence as a bundler, hosting lavish fundraisers at his home in Kalorama and donating almost $1.2 million to Democratic candidates over the years.

The resignation of high-powered Democratic lobbyist Tony Podesta from the firm bearing his name follows a string of failures by him to disclose his advocacy for foreign entities that put him under the microscope of special prosecutor Robert Mueller.

Podesta's remarks came after Trump raised questions on Twitter about the lobbying firm that Podesta co-founded with brother Tony and its lobbying ties to Russian Federation.

The firm makes an appearance in the Manafort indictment as "Company B". The ECMU, however, was in fact supported by the Party of Regions, the pro-Russia political party of the ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, for whom Manafort lobbied in the US. Another source told Politico he said he "doesn't intend to go quietly", but he "needs to fight this as an individual, but doesn't want the firm to fight it". "The Podesta Group has fully cooperated with the special counsel's office and taken every possible step to provide documentation that confirms compliance with the law". It subsequently amended its required filings. "The ECFMU provided formal certification that it was neither funded by nor directed by a government or political party".
