Indictment in Mueller's Russian Federation probe to be served Monday

Mueller was appointed special counsel in May, shortly after the firing of then-FBI Director James Comey, to look into allegations that the Trump campaign might have colluded with Russian Federation to win the election. We don't know yet who has been charged or what the charges are; the outlet says they're sealed under an order from a federal judge.

Writing on his personal Twitter account Friday, Fox News host Sean Hannity offered a theory about what he believes is really behind Friday's report at CNN that said FBI special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation had yielded its first indictment. It prevents the target of an indictment from knowing they're about to be charged and arrested, which limits the risk of defendants destroying evidence or any shenanigans when they are eventually brought in. Rosenstein made the decision to appoint Mueller because Attorney General Jeff Sessions had recused himself from any probe in the Russian Federation investigation.

CNN reported in August that the Mueller investigation is including a probe of possible financial ties between Trump, his associates and Russian Federation.

Many possible charges and incidents are under investigation by Mueller's team.

Lawyers representing President Trump, Donald Trump Jr., former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner did not respond to BuzzFeed News requests for comment.

The investigation is also looking into allegations that Trump obstructed justice when he fired Comey. His broad mandate could encompass any questionable actions of Trump's associates and possibly even the circumstances of the firing earlier this year of FBI Director James Comey. It is unclear what the charges are. Rosenstein oversees the Mueller probe at the Justice Department.
