Iran Guard chief warns U.S. against imposing new sanctions

The sanctions package also targeted Iran for alleged human rights abuses, terrorism sponsorship and arms shipments and added to the sanctions the U.S. had already imposed on the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and its unit responsible for foreign operations, the Qods Force.

"As we've announced in the past, if the USA new law for sanctions is enforced, this country will have to move their regional bases outside the 2,000 kilometer range of Iran's missiles", the major general remarked.

Revolutionary Guard chief Mohammad Ali Jafari said that if these reports of the United States' "stupidity" are true, it will equate U.S. troops, especially in the Middle East, to IS terrorists.

Jaafari cautioned the U.S. government of the dire consequences of imposing new sanction against Iran.

Trump also reportedly intends to decertify the Iranian nuclear deal struck in 2015, but he will not impose wide-ranging sanctions, preferring instead just to target the IRGC with sanctions.

The historic agreement came out of over 18 months of talks between Iran and its arch-foe, the United States, and the other five powers to end a decade-long dispute over Tehran's nuclear program.

Iran has denounced the sanctions as a breach of the 2015 nuclear deal and retaliated with a parliamentary bill to "counter America's terrorist and adventurist actions".

The anti-US parliamentary measure provides for a multimillion-dollar boost in spending on Tehran's missile program and IRGC's overseas operations.

The warning comes as US President Trump is expected to announce his new Iran policy in the coming days.

He went on to say if the USA government is truly considering to include IRGC in the list of terrorist groups, the IRGC will treat U.S. army in the same vein as ISIS terrorist group.

Away from CAATSA that puts Iran under presidential executive order 13224 and considers the IRGC as an entity supporting terrorist groups, Gen. Jafari noted reports coming from Washington that the USA president's new strategy intends to designate the IRGC itself as a terrorist organization, and issued a tough warning to Donald Trump, saying, "If reports prove to be true that the stupid U.S. administration intends to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization, then the IRGC will also specify the United States army as a group (and target) like ISIL in all parts of the world, specially the Middle-East".
