Anderson tops Test bowling rankings

September 10 (ANI): England pace spearhead James Anderson has replaced star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as the No. 1 Test bowler.

Roach, meanwhile, scooped 5-72, his seventh five-for in Tests, after adding the wickets of Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow and Moeen Ali to his opening day dismissals of Alastair Cook and Mark Stoneman.

That left England with a meagre target of 107 and they finished on 107 for one off 28 overs as they took a three- match series 2-1.

Anderson, who was the top-ranked bowler in August past year, reclaimed the top spot to become the oldest bowler to do so since Australian legend Glenn McGrath (January 2006) and Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralidaran (July 2009).

On Saturday, day three of the final Test that turned out to be the final day, Anderson returned with career-best figures of 7/42 in his 129th Test.

However, while Roach endured a gruelling road to recovery, he made his comeback and continued to be a regular face in the West Indies' Test squad.

The highlight for West Indies would be the five wicket win over England in the second Test at Headingley where Shai Hope scored a twin ton. "I'm more experienced", he pointed out.

West Indies pace bowler Kemar Roach admitted that he was concerned his worldwide career was all but over when he injured his shoulder nearly four years ago.

For the second time in the match, Anderson walked off to a standing ovation from a capacity Lord's crowd.

Play started Saturday in bright sunshine, a marked contrast to the grey skies that had encircled Lord's during the first two days.

Bowling from the Nursery End, where the eight-foot slope across the ground naturally takes the ball away from a right- handed batsman's off stump, Anderson found Roston Chase's edge and wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow held a simple catch.
