Spurs snap up Argentine defender Juan Foyth

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final days of the summer transfer window so we'll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe.

Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of 19-year-old defender Juan Foyth.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the arrival of Juan Foyth from Estudiantes on a five-year deal.

Foyth, however, was not happy with his path to the first team in Paris and opted to reject PSG and sign with Pochettino, whom he said believes in youth.

Mauricio Pochettino has bagged the Argentina Under-21 worldwide, 19, from his home country.

Foyth, an under-20 Argentina worldwide, was linked with both Tottenham and Paris-Saint Germain in July and at one stage it seemed like Mauricio Pochettino would miss out on the centre back.

The exact amount of the transfer fee was not disclosed, but was though to be between £7m-10m.

But the boss has now got his man and the defender has signed a contract until June 2022 with the Premier League club.

The teenager becomes the third player to secure a move to the North London club after defender Davinson Sanchez and goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga both completed deals to Spurs earlier this summer.

"It's a club that bets on the young and I think I'm going to have a chance to play", he said.

The defender commented that he "really likes this club", saying "I've followed it since I was a boy".

I also know many young players are in the team at the moment.
