Aucoin removed from command of Seventh Fleet

"The determination was made following medical examinations of the remains, which will be returned to the Malaysian authorities", it said in its latest update on its website today. "They are working to confirm and identify those remains".

On Tuesday, U.S. Navy and Marine divers found remains of missing sailors inside sealed sections of the damaged hull of the John S. McCain, which is moored at Singapore's Changi Naval Base.

The Navy will be relieving the vice admiral in charge of the 7th Fleet after four collisions occurred during the past year, including two during this summer.

On June 17, the USS Fitzgerald collided with a container ship about 90 miles from Japan, killing seven American sailors.

Military experts say the Navy's training is now being called into question, and a shakeup in leadership may be next.

Ten sailors are missing after the USS John S. McCain collided with a commercial vessel on Monday. Swift said four were immediately flown by Singapore navy helicopters to a Singapore hospital, and the fifth was hospitalized when the ship reached Singapore.

The dramatic pre-dawn accident sent water flooding into the USS John S. McCain, which limped into port in the city-state under escort later in the day.

"It's premature to say how many and what the status of recovery of those bodies is", Admiral Scott Swift.

US Defense Secretary James Mattis said on Monday that an extensive investigation was underway to "look at all related accidents, incidents at sea". Now 10 U.S sailors are missing.

The body has been medically examined and will be returned to Malaysian authorities, a statement from the USA navy's Asia-based 7th Fleet said. That collision resulted in the deaths of seven United States sailors.

The US has since ordered a worldwide "operational pause" of its navy fleet.
