Severe thunderstorms possible into evening, night

A Tornado Watch has been issued for parts of Vermont in New England.

A line of severe thunderstorms will march eastward across Pennsylvania later today, threatening to trigger damage and delays into Tuesday night.

Tornado watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes. Those warnings will be issued if a tornado is confirmed or imminent. Also being watched closely is an area of rain and thunderstorms located near the Yucatan peninsula, the remains of former Tropical Storm Harvey.

We are tracking a strong cold front diving into the region on Tuesday.

Strong to severe storms with damaging wind gusts and even an isolated tornado possible this afternoon and through the evening for Western New York.

The National Weather Service has upgraded its previous tornado watch to a tornado warning for most of Central New York. Large hail also will be possible in a couple of the storms.
