Chinese Troops Enter Ladakh on Independence Day

Ladakh: The Chinese government has denied reports of its Army personnel crossing the border with India in Ladakh region and pelting stones at the Indian troops.

Six to seven army vehicles of PLA troops arrived in at Pangong lake in Ladakh.

China said Wednesday that it was not aware of People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers entering Indian territory along the banks of the Pangong lake in Ladakh and maintained that it was committed to peace and tranquility along the border.

Earlier on Tuesday, as per a report by Hindustan Times, which quoted an unnamed source, "The Chinese patrol refused to move when the Indian side first showed banners that they were in Indian Territory, as per the settled drill".

Some of the Chinese soldiers carried iron rods and stones, and troops on both sides suffered minor injuries in the melee, the source said. It began with Indian troops stopping Chinese army from building a road in the disputed area.

Last month, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that India's interference has not only disobeyed China's territorial jurisdiction but also challenged Bhutan's sovereignty and independence. "We urge the Indian side to scrupulously abide by relevant agreements, protocols and rules between the two countries and earnestly respect the 1959 line of control and earnestly protect the peace and stability of the border region".

The army was apparently countering reports of a fresh clash breaking out with Chinese troops in the Doklam Plateau, where a almost two-month-long stand-off over a trilateral border terroritorial ownership is still on.

The two sides have frequently accused each other of intrusions into each other's territories, but clashes are rare.
