Voters, Including Those With Military Ties, Strongly Oppose Banning Trans Troops

Twenty-six percent said they viewed Trump as a levelheaded person, while 71 percent say they consider him unstable.

The nationwide phone poll of 1,125 American voters, conducted in the five days immediately after Donald Trump tweeted that he would reinstate the ban on trans people in the military, found 68 percent of respondents saying trans Americans should be allowed to serve and 27 percent saying they shouldn't.

A new Quinnipiac University poll out Wednesday shows that just 33 percent of American voters approve of the job Trump is doing and 61 percent say they disapprove.

Voting opinions on Trump's qualities like honesty, leadership and intelligence also hit new lows.

As polarized as the polling was during the Obama years, and as unpopular as George W. Bush was, neither of the two previous presidents were considered embarrassments by voters.

This goes with a separate poll by Reuters and Ipsos from last week, which found that 58 percent of U.S. adults agree trans people should be allowed to serve in the military, while 27 percent disagreed. He fared slightly better in the Morning Consult/Politico survey, which shows that 53 percent of registered voters disapprove and 42 percent approve of his job in the White House. Even though this number seems quite disturbing for the president, the disapproval number might make the pill a little harder to swallow.

Most Americans believe transgender people should be allowed to serve in the US military, according to a new poll.

Trump's approval rating has dropped down to the 36 percent mark June 25, and July 19 and 24.

The Quinnipiac University poll found that 54 percent of Americans are "embarrassed" that Trump is president compared to 26 percent who described themselves as "proud".

Republican voters remained the only demographic group opposed to allowing transgender people in the military. The Quinnipiac poll was also called "the standout performer" by City and State for the most accurate prediction in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor in 2013.

The data were based on telephone interviews with 1,500 adults across the country over a three-day rolling average.

A Gallup poll shows results consistent with results from the other two surveys.
