Diana's brother begs United Kingdom channel to drop 'insulting' new doco

A spokeswoman for Channel 4 said the tapes "are an important historical source" and that although the recordings were made in private, what was covered was in the public domain and showed how Diana prepared to tell her own personal story in her interview for Panorama.

Diana's brother says the documentary, Diana: In Her Own Words, which is set to air on the UK's Channel 4, is "a betrayal to her memory" and disrespectful to her legacy.

"It's completely inappropriate. How intrusive is this?" Settelen asked her about her sexual relationship with Charles, she replied, "Once every three weeks and then it fizzled out about seven years ago, six years ago".

The documentary also details how Diana found solace with her married police protection officer Barry Mannakee and considered fleeing the Royal household to be with him.

'It seems that there is sort of grubby blood money running around.

"The tapes were private".

He added Settelen had "tried very hard" to keep the tapes private. In another documentary, Prince William and Prince Harry chose to celebrate their mother on the 20th anniversary of her death and shared their personal memories of her.

The princess said: "That threw me completely, I thought what a odd (answer) - absolutely traumatised me". "It really is lowest common denominator TV".

Prince William and Prince Harry have not commented on the documentary.

Their resurgence has also shocked Rosa Monckton, famous confidante of Diana, who has expressed his disgust at the Daily Mail before the decision "totally inappropriate" Channel 4: "Imagine that your wife, your daughter being in therapy at a very hard time and that all of a sudden it shows this to the nation".

Meanwhile, Rosa Monckton, a confidante of Diana's is writing to the channel in a bid to stop the broadcast which is scheduled for Sunday 6 August.

The tribute also includes a case of cassette tapes, featuring albums by artists such as George Michael, Diana Ross and Elton John, who famously sang at her funeral.

The tapes - recorded by Diana's speech coach Peter Settelen - have been screened in the USA but never broadcast on British television, with some of the footage due to be shown for the first time.

During Diana and Charles' 15-year marriage - they Wednesday in 1981 and separated in 1992 - Charles had a love affair with his now-wife, Camilla Parker Bowles. One would assume that these conversations were meant to help with her many public speeches on land mines and AIDS.

She can be seen describing her wedding day as "the worst day of her life" and the constant battle to live up to her "fairy princess" public image. "But she realized she was living this lie... seemingly the wife of Prince Charles". On their sex life, she revealed: "there was never a requirement for it from him".

Referring to his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, now Duchess of Cornwall, the Princess said: "I remember saying to my husband, "Why?"
