Nintendo's SNES Classic Confirmed, Releases September 29

However, Nintendo has told Kotaku that the situation will be better this time, albeit with a big caveat.

One of the problems with the NES Classic Edition wasn't so much the features, the games, or its functionality.

The SNES Classic Edition will come with two SNES-style wired controllers, just like the NES Mini did past year. This time, the controller cables are a generous 1.5 metres long, so you don't have to sit right next to your TV like with the NES Classic. Star Fox went on to reappear a few years later in 1997 in the classic Star Fox 64, but for years, fans have been left wanting to play Star Fox 2 for themselves.

The SNES Classic is priced at $79.99, which is $20 higher than the MSRP for the NES Classic, however, the former comes with two controllers instead of one.

You can already pre-order the SNES Mini Classic on EB Games' website - we'll keep you in the loop if any other pre-orders come up as well. Although Nintendo has stated that there will be more SNES Classic units available, it is unclear just how many will be in circulation.

As well as the classic titles, Nintendo will also bundle in a game from the SNES era that was never actually released - Star Fox 2. The game is finally getting a release after all these years, so long as players unlock it by beating the original Star Fox game first. Likewise numerous included titles, such as Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Final Fantasy III (VI), and Super Metroid are considered some of the greatest games of all time. The miniature console will also ship with a USB power adapter and an HDMI cable.

Sadly, all signs point to yes.

Just like the NES past year, Nintendo has officially announced that the Super Nintendo Entertainment System will be getting a makeover in the form of a miniature replica with HDMI support. Despite being a runaway success, Nintendo quietly pulled the Classic Mini NES from sale past year.

On September 29, Nintendo is bringing back the Super Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition.
