UK Names Third London Bridge Attacker

Police are hunting any possible accomplices in the attack in which three men mowed down pedestrians on London Bridge and then launched a knife rampage.

Khuram Butt, a 27-year-old father of two, had been known to police.

The Moroccan-Italian man identified as the third London attacker told Italian authorities "I'm going to be a terrorist" when he was stopped at Bologna Airport past year trying to travel to Syria, it has been reported.

Zaghba had been detained in March 2016 at Marconi Airport in the northern Italian city of Bologna when about to board a flight to Istanbul, according to Ansa.

"I am not surprised that Khuram Butt carried out the terrorist attack and there are serious questions for the authorities".

Police reportedly found IS propoganda videos on his cell phone but, after an investigation, failed to find sufficient evidence of links to terrorism to prosecute him and he was released. Zaghba's Italian citizenship prevented such an expulsion, Italian daily Repubblica reported.

Zaghba had lived mainly in Morocco but had recently spent time working in Britain, most recently at a London restaurant.

Earlier, Britain police named Pakistani-origin Khurram Butt and Moroccan-origin British Rachid Redouane as two of three accused of the attack.

Zaghba's mother also said her son was monitored by Italian intelligence ever since. The relatives of Butt and the ex-wife of Redouane distanced themselves from the extremists, saying the atrocity had left them shocked. "That does require obviously vigilance but it does require proper resources and therefore cutting police numbers and not funding sufficiently those that are involved in security is a problem", he said.

Much of the area around London Bridge remained cordoned off as commuters struggled to work in the driving rain.

He received an European Union residency permit from Ireland and the couple lived there until at least the end of 2015.

The news came as detectives arrested another suspect at an address in Barking, east London.

The Guardian reported that he worked as a pastry chef.

Meanwhile, 12 people arrested after the incident as part of the investigation have now been released without charge. "Neighbors say he tried to radicalize their kids in a public park".

Butt, who is thought to have also gone by the name Abu Zaitun, was known to neighbours by the nickname "Abs/z" and was allegedly an associate of radical hate preacher Anjem Choudary.

The families of the three London attackers have condemned their actions.

Butt returned to Pakistan in 2009 and 2013 on short trips, first for his brother's wedding and later to visit his own in-laws.

"I understand that asking to be forgiven means nothing, that's why I promise to dedicate my life to ensuring this does not happen again", she said.

Transport for London (TfL) confirmed that Butt worked for London Underground for just under six months as a trainee customer services assistant, leaving in October past year.

His passport and cellphone were seized, but he got them back after a court determined there wasn't enough evidence to arrest him.
