Trump Pledges to Abide by NATO's Article 5

For the first time since taking office in January, Trump said he would honor the U.S.' commitment to NATO Article 5. "Very proud of that fact".

President Trump issues a stern warning to Qatar to stop funding terrorism, stop teaching hate, and stop the killing. His comments were a forceful endorsement of this week's move by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates to cut off ties to Qatar.

Iohannis said that his responsibility and that of his United States counterparts go beyond security of their citizens, as he called for strengthening the ties for an enhanced economic exchange between the two countries.

The president has since walked back his remarks, and he was supposed to affirm US fidelity to Article 5 during an appearance at North Atlantic Treaty Organisation headquarters in Brussels last month. During his speech in Brussels, Trump said that "23 of the 28 member nations are still not paying what they should be paying and what they are supposed to be paying".

President Trump has already called James Comey a liar and leaker on Twitter, but besides that he has yet to make any personal statements regarding the hearing or Comey's testimony.

Comey testified in front of the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee Thursday.

"Romania has been a valuable member of the coalition to fight [Islamic State] and it's the fourth-largest contributor of troops in Afghanistan". The Qatari Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The spat has led to one of the worst Gulf crises in decades, with suspended flights and regional ports closed to Qatari ships. The money is starting to pour in.

It is also impairing USA business activities in the region and bringing about humanitarian consequences, he said.

Trump's previous comments were partially responsible for the EU's launch Wednesday of the European Defense Fund, geared toward bolstering military research, development and acquisition among regional partners outside of the USA -sponsored framework. But he urged the emir to "do more" and "do it more quickly".

Tillerson, speaking at the State Department, said the US would help support efforts to mediate the crisis, along with Kuwait - another Gulf country that has stepped up to try to broker a resolution.
