French president says 8th death confirmed after London attacks

Earlier police, who were hunting for 45-year-old Frenchman Xavier Thomas, missing since the attack, said that they had found a body in the River Thames.

The Metropolitan Police says the body was found on Tuesday downstream near Limehouse from the bridge.

British media has reported that Mr Thomas was caught up in the attack with his girlfriend Christine Delcros as they were crossing the famed bridge.

"Where might the attackers have bought them from?" police said.

And on March 22 this year, five people were killed when a man rammed his vehicle into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge in London before stabbing a police officer outside parliament.

There are already questions about why one of the attackers, Khuram Shazad Butt, which was known to police was able to carry out the attack.

An Italian website has claimed Moroccan and "British authorities" were tipped off about Zaghba's movements after he was charged and later cleared on global terrorism charges and placed on a "persons at risk" list.

Meanwhile, speaking at her house in Bologna, Italy, Zaghba's mother told the BBC she believed her son was radicalised in the UK.

Zaghba, Pakistan-born British citizen Butt and Rachid Redouane, 30, who claimed to be Moroccan-Libyan, launched a rampage around London Bridge and Borough Market on Saturday night.

In March 2016, during a visit to Italy, Zaghba was stopped at Bologna airport with a one-way ticket to Turkey by police who suspected he was headed for Syria.

French President Emmanuel Macron said Wednesday that a third French victim has been identified among those killed in the London Bridge van-and-stabbing attack in London.

Butt had been investigated in 2015, was known by neighbors to be an extremist and was featured past year in a documentary on Britain's Channel 4 called "The Jihadis Next Door".

Corbyn, the far-left leader of the opposition Labour Party, accused May of starving police and other security services of personnel and funds.

Reaction to the attack has dominated the final days of campaigning before Thursday's general election, with opposition Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and others criticizing May for cutting police numbers by roughly 20,000 during her tenure as home secretary.

Police shot and killed all three.

Police have said Redouane was not known to security services.

Residents at a block of flats in Barking - where a number of arrests were made on Sunday - said they recognised the attacker and that he had lived in the area for around three years.

Dar blasted his 27-year-old nephew, Khuram Butt, over his involvement in the sickening terror attack and said he could not understand why he slaughtered seven innocent people.
