Cavs not looking to slow down pace of Finals with Warriors

Golden State held an identical series lead previous year when the championship series shifted to Cleveland but split the two games there and then went on to become the first team to lose an NBA Finals after leading 3-1. "We've got to come out and play our best game of the series to win".

LeBron James, however, insists that Cleveland would resist changing their style of play on offence because they "don't play slowdown basketball".

"I want to win just as bad as they do and obviously they probably got a bad taste in their mouth after what happened last year and we had one in our mouth last year from what happened the year before", James said.

The Warriors have not lost in the postseason since their three straight setbacks against the Cavaliers in Games 5-7 of the 2016 NBA Finals. "We all have to play better and we will".

Golden State Warriors win in 6: 15.75%.

The Warriors are a flawless 14-0 so far in the postseason, and they seem intent on revenge after giving up a 3-1 lead to the Cavs in last year's Finals.

"We have a huge hurdle to get over", Warriors guard Stephen Curry said of their visit to the Quicken Loans Arena.

They are averaging almost 119 points and winning by a record 16.9 per game in the postseason, and they've really picked it up lately. If somebody is struggling, they can just find someone else with their precision ball movement.

"They're going to be excited, the energy's going to be at full tilt", Cavs center Tristan Thompson said.

"We have to take care of home court", Cavaliers forward Kevin Love said.

The Warriors, who won 113-91 and 132-113 at home over the Cavaliers, swept Portland, Utah and San Antonio to reach the finals. Golden State have made it clear that they want to play fast and score early, and Cleveland let it happen.

Both Durant and Thompson said they noticed the mental effect their lightning-quick scoring bursts have on opponents.

A year after winning 73 games to set the NBA's regular-season record, the Warriors can make more history if they sweep the Cavs to complete the league's first undefeated postseason.

But the sting from last year's loss has the Warriors lingers.

"When you're the one making the run, you could definitely feel the other team looking for answers and being deflated as the game goes on", Durant said.

"Game 3 has been rough for us historically, and especially in this building", Curry said.

"To give ourselves a chance at even coming close to thinking about that (record), we need to really, really just lock in and give every effort we have on tomorrow and how hard this 48 minutes is going to be to really seize control of this series".
