Brownsville library plans summer reading program

Prizes will be offered for reading, as well as a number of fun and free activities hosted throughout the summer, including puppet shows, art classes, and science presentations.

Adults are also invited to sign up for the summer reading program during the kickoff party.

"Our Summer Reading program helps bridge the gap in academic achievement by getting books and other literacy tools into the hands of children and families who need it the most", said Cindy Chadwick, County Librarian.

"We're committed to encouraging young people to love reading", Morris said.

From Books and Babies and Preschool Story Time sessions to Readapalooza and the morning and evening adult readers book clubs, the community will have plenty of ways to make reading a part of their summer routine.

Adults Invited to Join Summer Reading Program at Curwensville Public Library

The Curwensville Library is open Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m.to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m.

"The library cares about your children and has planned programs to keep them reading and learning all summer".

Registration for the summer programs began this week and will be available until Sat., July 1.

To pick up a registration card and program schedule, stop by the Youth Services desk starting on June 12. Wednesdays or 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Kids age 11 and under who register for their Beanstack accounts through the BCLS website and track their progress will earn virtual badges for reaching each reading milestone.
