Si Woo Kim's win lands punter a fortune

Englishman Matt Wallace, meanwhile, continued his meteoric rise by winning his first European Tour title at the Portugal Open in magnificent style at the weekend. "I was still probably a bit of a hot head and throwing clubs or something".

Sorry to disappoint, I can only dream of being as good as Brandel.it's clearly very easy sitting on your arse. thanks for the support.

His last hurdle was getting by the final two holes where not even his two-shot lead was safe - the island green at the par-3 17th and a closing hole with water all the way down the left side.

"I wasn't nervous at all", he said.

While numerous top contenders came unglued, Kim stoically made his way around TPC Sawgrass despite not having his A game.

He was given a reprieve until the end of the season and made the most of it at Sawgrass, finishing three shots behind champion Kim Si-woo to post his best finish since November 2014. But Kim opened his final round with a birdie and then added two more at the seventh and the ninth to get to 10-under.

Kim, almost two years younger than Adam Scott when the Australian won in 2004, is also the first player from Asia to win twice on the PGA Tour before the age of 22.

He had plenty of help.

Poulter shanked his second shot from the right rough on the 18th, and it bounced off hospitality tents, down a cart path and into a palmetto bush. He tied for second with Louis Oosthuizen (73).

DIVOTS: Dustin Johnson matched the low score of the final round with a 68 and tied for 12th.

The players who began the day at the top of the leaderboard had no such luck. Third-round co-leader J.B. Holmes ballooned to an 84 on Sunday and fell into a tie for 41st at 291.

Not a great record, but the successful Dublin punter had faith in the young golfer and placed €100 on him to win the tournament outright, with another €100 on an each-way finish at 500/1. Then again, if Kim starts flying first class or private after this windfall, I think we would all understand. "I just focused on the middle of the green".

A day after he missed just one fairway and to tied Holmes at 9-under, Kyle Stanley found just six of 14 fairways to shoot 75.

Kim is about as experienced as you can find in a 21-year-old.

"He played like someone that was doing it for five or six years ... like it was just another round of golf", Kim's playing partner Oosthuizen said.

Kim arrived at TPC as an afterthought among the 147-man field.

South Korea requires all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 35 to complete at least 21 months in the military as a deterrent to North Korean aggression.

Unfortunately for Kim, winning the PGA Tour's flagship event does not bring an exemption.

He came up short in both categories after missing the cut in his 10th event last month, but Gay - who was also playing on a medical exemption after back problems - came to the rescue by discovering a difference between the way points were allotted this season compared to a year ago.

After his final-round performance, Kim might have been the only one surprised.

Kim finished at 10-under 278, replacing Adam Scott in 2005 (at age 23) as the youngest victor of The Players. "I'm just so honored".
