India to play Champions Trophy

This debate between the World's richest governing body, BCCI and ICC is out of bounds now.

England play the opening match of the tournament against Bangladesh at The Oval on June 1.

The dispute stemmed from ICC's decision last month to amend rules so that less money and power was held by cricket's "Big Three" - England, India and Australia.

With the new revenue model getting the nod, BCCI will now have to do with what they have in the eight-year cycle.

This offer which came from Shashank Manohar, the ICC chairman was originally rejected by the BCCI who stated that the final offer should be $450 million and must not have any change in governance phenomenon.

The COA had made it clear to the state associations through a letter that it will be forced to move the Supreme Court if the members took any decision which was against the interest of Indian cricket at the BCCI SGM on Sunday.

Cricket's massive popularity in India has helped the BCCI become by far the wealthiest of all of cricket's national boards, netting massive money from sponsorship and TV deals.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been told by the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to get a mandate from its members and thereby empower its acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary to negotiate the financial terms with the International Cricket Council (ICC).

It also assured the members that if the CoA would agree with certain objections raised by BCCI SGM, it would make a combined appeal to the Supreme Court.

The squad for the 50-over tournament would be named on Monday, it added. "Team India should be provided with a supportive environment to showcase Indian cricket instead of being surrounded by uncertainty and confusion".

"The BCCI. unanimously decided that the Indian cricket team will participate in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy".
