Ubisoft Teases Far Cry Announcement?

With interesting timing, since there are no recurrences related to the game, recently Ubisoft has published on its Facebook page a picture of Rook Island of Far Cry 3, accompanying with the caption of "an island we never really left".

Ubisoft also invites players to follow the Instagram profile of the company, using artwork taken right from Far Cry 3. Or, will the remastering trend continue and see Far Cry 3 get a modernized version revealed in the weeks ahead?

Ubisoft's Far Cry is one of the longest running video gaming franchise's out there, with the latest installment Far Cry Primal getting a lukewarm response at the very best.

Ubisoft has confirmed that the next Assassin's Creed game will be Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. The image shows Vaas leaning over and peering down at us, and Ubisoft asks, "Does that remind you of something?" Let us know in the comments.

It seems likely that Ubisoft would go the Far Cry route to end off the year, and based on these images, perhaps it's a return to Rook Island, and a direct sequel to the events of Far Cry 3.

Update: Ubisoft has told Game Informer that this was simply a "throwback post", and that it wasn't meant as a tease.
