At 100 days in, Trump seems both outsider and insider

US President Donald Trump marked his 100th day in office in a rally in Pennsylvania, where he focused on his long-running antagonism with the news media and also touted his administration's "historic progress", a report said.

The executive order gives the USA commerce secretary 180 days to carry out a review of whether the nation's free trade agreements with partner countries have been economically beneficial for the United States. "From now on, it's going to be America first".

On a threshold that Trump has both derided and tried to define, the president also said he is putting Americans first even as he learns on the job.

The choice and setting of the rally - in a state that enthusiastically embraced his election - was a deliberate snub to a traditional White House correspondents' dinner taking place late Saturday, where he had risked being roasted by comedians.

He then suggested that he might attend the dinner next year - but added that he might consider returning to Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania was critical to Trump's victory. Trump won Pennsylvania with 48 per cent of the vote, the first time the state had voted for a Republican presidential candidate since George H.W. Bush in 1988.

President Trump visited the AMES Companies in Pennsylvania's Cumberland County, a shovel manufacturer since 1774.

Also on his 100th day, Trump signed another executive order directing the Commerce Department and the U.S. Trade Representative to conduct a study of American trade agreements. The goal is to determine whether America is being treated fairly by its trading partners and the 164-nation World Trade Organization.

President Trump spent his 100th day in office yesterday in Harrisburg, Pa., speaking to ecstatic crowds elated to see the president they believe has upended the political system in Washington.

President Donald Trump is marking his 100th day in office by talking tough on trade.

President Donald Trump has taken some criticism for skipping the White House Correspondents' Dinner, but Kellyanne Conway says the president was right where he was supposed to be: with the American people.

At the rally in Harrisburg, the president said the media should be given "a big, fat, failing grade" over their coverage of his achievements during his first 100 days and told the cheering crowd he was "thrilled to be more than 100 miles from Washington".

A failed effort to overhaul president Barack Obama's health care law behind him, Trump is turning to what he's billed as the nation's biggest tax cut. It apparently falls short of Reagan's in 1981, and tax experts are sceptical that the plan would pay for itself.

Citing the support of President Xi Jinping in pressuring North Korea, he said "I don't think right now is the best time to call China a currency manipulator". Polls show that Americans feel slightly better about his job performance on that subject than his job performance overall.

"We are keeping one promise after another and people are really happy about it", he said. If you try to illegally enter the United States, you will be caught, detained, deported or put in prison at - it will happen. For decades our country has lived through the greatest jobs' theft in the history of the world.
